Justice dictates that we should all wind up in hell.  It is God's mercy (which we do not deserve) that grants us freedom from a destiny apart from God.  We should take this redemption seriously as God has restored us.  While the world is only consumed with the outer man, God wants the inner man sanctified, our spirit is what can connect with God.

What you put into your soul ends up being who or what you worship.  We must moderate the things of this world that we intake through our eye, ear and mouth gates and make a greater effort to put the things of God into our soul.  We have to let our natural man, who only strives after the empty pleasures of the world, die and let our spirit man, flourish.  Our own stubbornness and rebellion can keep us apart from God.
