God is looking for a Holy people. Are you determined to be Holy? We need 4 things: justification, santification, consecration and purification.
Justification: Rightness that results in an action of God. Where we are set in a right relationship with God. Vindicated and declared right by Him.
Sanctification: Process of being made holy, resulting in a changed life (Hagiou - Greek for Holy) (Ka-dosh - Jewish for Holy)

Man longs for companionship, it is a void that has been placed in us. The problem is, we seek to fill that void with the creature(other man/woman) rather than the Creator. That same devotion we put to people of the opposite gender, needs to be put towards God. God wants our relationship with Him to return to how it was when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, before the fall.

Justice dictates that we should all wind up in hell. It is God's mercy (which we do not deserve) that grants us freedom from a destiny apart from God. We should take this redemption seriously as God has restored us. While the world is only consumed with the outer man, God wants the inner man sanctified, our spirit is what can connect with God.
What you put into your soul ends up being who or what you worship. We must moderate the things of this world that we intake through our eye, ear and mouth gates and make a greater effort to put the things of God into our soul. We have to let our natural man, who only strives after the empty pleasures of the world, die and let our spirit man, flourish. Our own stubbornness and rebellion can keep us apart from God. |

Like the Father/Son/Holy Spirit, man is a triune being. He is spirit; which is God conscience, soul, which is self conscience, and body which is world conscience. When the Bible refers to your 'mind' it is talking about your soul, not the physical organ, the brain. Your mind/soul is your memory, your emotions, your imagination all of which God wants us to have focused on Him (Matthew 22:37 / Deuteronomy 6:5). Having your mind/soul fixed on God is important because it is what will govern your actions. As we practice fixing our mind/soul on Him through meditation of His Word and being in His presence, His very presence will increase.
When Adam and Eve fell, the spirit man, which had been illuminated from heaven, died. The spirit of a man that has not been born again has no capacity to appreciate the things of God. Being born again brings back the connection to God through the Spirit. Some come to God temporarily out of a guilty conscience but do not fully give their life over to God and their spirit man remains dead, because they have not been born again.

The illustration was made about how a man can live 40 days without food, 3 days without water and 8 minutes without air. But, the Spirit cannot exist at all without God and will starve when we are not 'eating' of Him. Just like a man who has not natural food in days and can think about only his next meal, we must also hunger for the presence of God. Without the presence of God in our lives, it is impossible for us to be witnesses of the Gospel. We should be sure to be clean before trying to get into God's presence.
